Low fat carrot and turnip cottage pie

Ingredients

  • 6-8 medium potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 4 medium carrots, chopped
  • 1/2 turnip, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 500g extra lean beef mince
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Method

Get out 2 pans a large and a small. Put a few pieces of carrot and turnip in the small pan and the rest in the large pan. Add onion to the large pan.
Put the mince in the large pan and add water to both pans.
Put both pans on the hot plates and cook, stirring regularly, so it does not burn.
Boil the potatoes for about 20 minutes until soft.
Add the stock, salt, and pepper to the large meat pan.
Turn off the heat of the hot plate that the turnip and carrots are in.
Once the meat and vegetables are cooked place them in a baking dish.
Once it has been 20 minutes and the potatoes are soft, drain out the water in a colander and mash it.
Place the mashed potato on top of the meat and vegetables.
Bake in the oven until it goes brown.
Add carrots and turnip on top for decoration and serve.
